| Technology | HTML 4, JavaScript, PHP 5, Silverlight |
| Tools | Microsoft Expression Studio 3, MySQL Workbench |
History
A very close friend of mine, KiggidyKev (also referred to as Kev) used to work on ZVGQ when it was in its prime back on Geocities. Time has passed, and my friend was given the opportunity to take over the site as he once was a major contributor to the project. Kev has taken on the responsibility of the site, and is looking to breathe some life back into the project.
Description
To update the website and give it a sort of modern day restoration, where we keep the original content, but bring both the technology and style into the new millennium.
Task
To only use the Microsoft Expression Suite 3 tools to update the website, and blog about my experience. This includes all prototyping (SketchFlow), client-side development (HTML, JavaScript) along with all server side code (PHP).
The MySQL database will be created and managed using MySQL Workbench, but all data access for the application will be written using Expression Web.
Reason
I have been playing with the Expression Suite of products since Blend 2 was in beta and the only way to really design anything in WPF. I have followed the tools closely since then and notice that all the examples that are discussed are usually small examples, or training videos. I want to see if the suite of products can stand on its own and take on the task of building a new version of an old classic.
